How do I handle delicate inventory?

How do you safely move fragile, delicate inventory and machinery? The right moving company will be able to provide you with the necessary moving equipment and packing supplies to protect your inventory during the move.

Recently we had a challenging move for an animal hospital. The move involved packing delicate medicines and laboratory equipment. We went for a visual estimate to understand what the move would involve. The person in charge took me for a walk through of the entire hospital. We decided to split the move into two days, one day for packing the entire inventory into boxes and the second day for the actual move. The hospital decided that they wanted to do the packing and the moving over the weekend. A few days before the move, we received a call from the person in charge of the move in the hospital and she told me that they wanted us to pack their goods on Friday and move the majority of the boxes on the same day.

Then her stuff would come Saturday and we would unpack all the boxes and our movers would arrive on Sunday to move the remaining inventory to the new location. We decided to double the amount of movers for the packing and partial moving on Friday. Upon arrival to the animal hospital on Friday, we split the crew into two teams. One team was in charge of the packing and the second team in charge of the moving. We sent 8 movers that day; so 6 movers packed the boxes and labeled them while the other 2 movers loaded the boxes onto the truck.

This enabled us to save the time and space necessary for the packing (instead of putting the packed boxes in the empty spaces in the hospital and then have to navigate through them while we finished packing). We had to pack some Madison and laboratory inventory, so we used special boxes and crates, and we divided the inventory in the boxes in a way that nothing could get damaged. Those boxes were marked fragile and loaded extra carefully onto the truck. The laboratory equipment we left for the second day, most of this equipment was delicate therefore nothing could be stacked on top of these boxes.

We finished the first day successfully by 3:00 PM. On the second day we sent only four movers and we split the crew into two teams. One team was in charge of loading all inventory, not labeled as fragile, and the second team had to crate all the delicate equipment in order to protect it during the move. As soon as the crating was done the entire crew loaded all the equipment and the remaining inventory and drove to the new location. Unloading of the inventory was fairly fast and again the entire relocation was successfully finished by 3:00 PM.
